If you never post your photo or video, you can pretty well guess the number of likes it\u2019ll garner.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram knows that the #1 predictor of whether a photo or video will get engagement (i.e. likes, comments) is\u00a0<em>how quickly it gets posted<\/em>. (There&#8217;s a reason it&#8217;s not called &#8220;Latergram.&#8221;) The limitations of Instagram are what help people get across the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>I used the nicely executed <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/youtube-capture\/id576941441?mt=8\">YouTube Capture<\/a>\u00a0app a bit over the holiday break. To my surprise, although it works just as advertised,\u00a0<em>I never shared anything<\/em>\u00a0I made with it, whereas I shared <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/jnack\/\">half a dozen<\/a> videos I made with Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram battles against &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/barry_schwartz_on_the_paradox_of_choice.html\">the paradox of choice<\/a>.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.squeezedbooks.com\/articles\/the-paradox-of-choice.html\">Studies show<\/a> that for every additional 401(k) plan a company offers, employee participation goes down. Why? Because when people have the option to dig in &amp; do more research (work) to achieve the ideal outcome, they get paralyzed and don&#8217;t actually complete the mission.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s how I&#8217;m finding YouTube Capture: It&#8217;s easy to capture a bunch (i.e. more than 15 seconds) of footage, then optionally go back and trim, edit, re I&#8217;m on the hook to go back and review\/trim it, meaning that I&#8230; oh sure, I <em>will<\/em>, soon&#8230; I swear&#8230; {life intervenes}.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week,\u201d said George Patton.
