You&#8217;d need it to match the work of illustrator Kevin Hulsey.  His site features a variety of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/student.html\">tutorials<\/a> that demonstrate techniques for building up artwork in Photoshop and Illustrator.  Creating &#8220;Radiance of the Seas&#8221; took some 720 hours, and it&#8217;s fascinating to watch a fully rendered ship develop from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/demo_1howto.html\">line work in Illustrator<\/a> into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/demo_1howto_pg2.html\">color in Photoshop<\/a>, rendered in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/empress_det8.html\">lavish high resolution<\/a>.  Kevin&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/demo_howto_photoshop.html\">ghosting<\/a> technique produces some lovely translucent results, too.  [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2006\/03\/21\/howto_technically_il.html\">Via<\/a>]\n<li>Playing with blending modes in Photoshop can enable some very cool painting with light (<a href=\"http:\/\/corporate.gettyimages.com\/masters2\/galleries.aspx?stage=Gallery&amp;GalleryName=mili&amp;ImageIndex=7\">a la Picasso<\/a>, not <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/printedition\/la-fi-kinkade5mar05,1,4840766.story?ctrack=1&amp;cset=true\"><i>this<\/i> dude<\/a>).  Computer Arts features a rather neat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerarts.co.uk\/tutorials\/2d__and__photoshop\/painting_with_light\">tutorial on the subject<\/a>.\n<li>On a related note, this month&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surfacemag.com\/\" \/>Surface Magazine<\/a> features a piece on Swedish collective <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icon-magazine.co.uk\/issues\/027\/front_text.htm\">Front<\/a>, who use motion capture technology to sketch with light pens, then render the results as functional furniture.  Check out images as they move from <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/files\/images\/sketching1sm.html\">conception<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/files\/images\/sketching2sm.html\">finished pieces<\/a>.  Kind of reminds me of <a href=\"http:\/\/arts.guardian.co.uk\/features\/story\/0,,1733328,00.html?gusrc=rss\">Moholy-Nagy&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kettlesyard.co.uk\/exhibitions\/archive\/immaterial_2k.html\">Leda and the Swan<\/a>.
