They\u2019re just for fun, the real competitions start on Friday, September 12th. The site is new, <a href=\"http:\/\/layertennis.com\/seasons\">the archives<\/a> have been <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">completely<\/span> mostly reformatted and we\u2019re ready to go. We\u2019ll be hosting remix contests and lots of other fun things this season, so you\u2019ll probably want to <a href=\"http:\/\/layertennis.com\/newsletter\">get on the list<\/a> for the skinny on all that. Oh, <a href=\"http:\/\/layertennis.com\/blog\/wanna-play\">do you want to play<\/a>?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I had the honor of providing <a href=\"http:\/\/layertennis.com\/match\/vinh-vs-felton\/#1\">play-by-play commentary<\/a>\u00a0for a match between Khoi Vinh &amp; Nicholas Felton. Afterwards I wanted to build a \u201cPhotoshop Remix\u201d app that would be built entirely to enable socially powered creation &amp; remixing. I couldn\u2019t convince Adobe to go for it, and soon enough Khoi came out with his own tool in that vein, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2011\/11\/check-out-mixel-social-collaging-for-everyone.html\">Mixel<\/a>. I was sad to see it fail to find an audience, and to see other collaborative creation tools <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2014\/01\/social-filmmaking-do-people-actually-want-to-make-videos-together.html\">similarly<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2012\/03\/collaborative-drawing-is-there-a-there-there.html\">flame<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2014\/01\/canvas-drawquest-bite-the-dust.html\">out<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And still I wonder, I wonder\u2026 <em>is<\/em> there a way in which people want to create together?<\/p>\n<p>[<a href=\"http:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2014\/08\/08\/layer-tennis\">Via<\/a>]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Game Formerly Known As Photoshop Tennis, originated &amp; hosted by Coudal Partners, is back in action: Today we\u2019re hosting two live \u201cfriendly\u201d matches to kick off a new season of Layer Tennis.
