{"id":11267,"date":"2006-11-09T21:39:20","date_gmt":"2006-11-09T21:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnackdev\/2006\/11\/more-stellar-imagery-literally.html"},"modified":"2006-11-09T21:39:20","modified_gmt":"2006-11-09T21:39:20","slug":"more_stellar_imagery_literally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/09\/more_stellar_imagery_literally\/","title":{"rendered":"More stellar imagery (literally)"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The Photoshop team got a treat today when astro photographer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmalin.com\/\">David Malin<\/a> paid us a visit.&#160; David shared a selection of his work and techniques with the team, and put in some good requests (some of which we are delighted to be addressing).&#160; His site features a wealth of photos, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aao.gov.au\/images\/general\/favourites.html\">50 Favourite Images<\/a> from the Anglo-Australian Observatory.&#160; <\/li>\n<li>Along similar lines, I recently discovered a collection of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacetelescope.org\/images\/archive\/top100\/\">100 Great Images from the Hubble,<\/a> as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceflightnow.com\/news\/n0611\/08masterpiece\/\">this stunner<\/a>.&#160; And speaking of the famous telescope, in response to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popsci.com\/popsci\/aviationspace\/0c2c5c5b3edce010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html\">news<\/a> that it&#8217;s been decided to keep the Hubble flying (yeah!), the <em>NYT<\/em> has posted a short essay on the history of &quot;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/11\/07\/science\/space\/07hubb.html?pagewanted=2&amp;_r=1\">NASA&#8217;s Comeback Kid<\/a>.&quot; As always, if you want to open the raw imagery from the Hubble directly in Photoshop, check out the free <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2006\/02\/rocket_scientists.html\">FITS Liberator<\/a> plug-in. <\/li>\n<li>My friend Phil Metschan, an art director at ILM, has created some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamvisioninc.com\/services-consulting-space-exploration-optimization.htm\">concept art<\/a> for his rocket-science brother&#8217;s proposed space flight technology.
