{"id":11323,"date":"2006-12-20T22:38:58","date_gmt":"2006-12-20T22:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnackdev\/2006\/12\/handy-new-script-for-photoshop-cs3.html"},"modified":"2006-12-20T22:38:58","modified_gmt":"2006-12-20T22:38:58","slug":"handy_new_script_for_photoshop_cs3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/20\/handy_new_script_for_photoshop_cs3\/","title":{"rendered":"Handy new script for Photoshop CS3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By now you&#8217;ve probably seen how the Photoshop CS3 beta&#8217;s Auto-Align Layers command can snap images together.&nbsp; If not, check out my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jnack.com\/vids\/AutoAlign.html\">90-second overview<\/a>, or this somewhat more <a href=\"http:\/\/av.adobe.com\/russellbrown\/CS3AlignBlendSM.mov\">in-depth version <\/a>from Russell Brown.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The command relies on selecting multiple layers to align, so it&#8217;s handy to suck multiple images into Photoshop &amp; stack them up as layers in a PSD file.&nbsp; To accomplish that easily, we created a <strong>Load Files Into Stack<\/strong> script, but time didn&#8217;t permit it to get into the beta.&nbsp; So, if you&#8217;re interested in pulling in multiple files as layers, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/files\/StackScript.zip\">grab the script here<\/a> (zipped to avoid any server weirdness).&nbsp; Unzip the file and stick it into the &quot;Adobe Photoshop CS3\/Presets\/Scripts&quot; folder to make it appear under File-&gt;Scripts when you launch Photoshop, or just browse to it via File-&gt;Scripts-&gt;Browse.<\/p>\n<p>To try it yourself, do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Grab <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/files\/DoorPanorama.zip\">this set of four images<\/a> and unzip it.<\/li>\n<li>From within Photoshop, select File-&gt;Scripts-&gt;Load Files into Stack, then load up the four images.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the alignment &amp; Smart Object options unchecked, then hit OK.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Select-&gt;All Layers, then choose Edit-&gt;Auto-Align Layers.<\/li>\n<li>Click the Cylindrical option, then hit OK.&nbsp; You should wind up with an image <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/files\/images\/door_pano_aligned.html\">like this<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>So, okay, Photoshop has done a reasonable job aligning and warping the layers, but obvious color and alignment problems remain.
