{"id":12241,"date":"2007-02-20T16:22:38","date_gmt":"2007-02-20T16:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnackdev\/2007\/02\/automotive-visualizations.html"},"modified":"2007-02-20T16:22:38","modified_gmt":"2007-02-20T16:22:38","slug":"automotive_visualizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/20\/automotive_visualizations\/","title":{"rendered":"Automotive visualizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve come across some crafty ideas from the automotive world, visualized in Photoshop, 3D, and sheetmetal: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BMW tweaks nature to demonstrate <a href=\"http:\/\/kuratkull.com\/index.php\/2007\/01\/18\/bmw-anti-front-wheel-drives\/\">why they don&#8217;t do front wheel drive<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>Volkswagen drives home their power-to-weight ratio in this series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/vw-gti.html\"> GTI ads<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/images\/vw_golfgti_1.jpg\">see larger<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><em>Vive le blur<\/em>: Recent design school grad  Ian Hart created some rather excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/crossthebreeze.com\/2007\/01\/15\/i-like-it-when-it-blurs\/\">Ford Mustang ads<\/a> as a student project. He writes, \u201cConstructed from GE Lexan EXL semi-transparent resin, the billboard accurately blurs the scene behind it regardless of day, weather or season.\u201d [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/ford-mustang.html\">Via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Peugeot &amp; Microsoft <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peugeot-concours-design.com\/index_en.htm\">challenged designers<\/a> to devise cars of the future, and you can see a <a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/2300-11389_3-6159624.html?tag=nl.e434\">gallery of the winners here<\/a>.&#160; Peugeot will build the winning entry as a full-scale concept car, and MSFT will feature a drivable version of the car in one of its Xbox 360 games. <\/li>\n<li>No Photoshop necessary: Automotive artist Billy Gibbons (aka one of the bearded dudes from ZZ Top) has created the weirdly wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.coker.com\/index.php\/2007\/01\/30\/billy-f-gibbons\u2019-bus-ball\/#more-82\">Bus Ball<\/a> [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.core77.com\/blog\/object_culture\/bus_ball_by_billy_f_gibbons_5524.asp\">Via<\/a>].&#160; It reminds me in some way of Heatherwick Studio&#8217;s groovy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherwick.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=19&amp;Itemid=48&amp;limit=1&amp;limitstart=2\">rolling bridge<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherwick.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=19&amp;Itemid=48&amp;limit=1&amp;limitstart=1\">video<\/a>). \n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve come across some crafty ideas from the automotive world, visualized in Photoshop, 3D, and sheetmetal: BMW tweaks nature to demonstrate why they don&#8217;t do front wheel drive.
