{"id":12618,"date":"2008-01-11T10:51:40","date_gmt":"2008-01-11T10:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnackdev\/2008\/01\/its-not-the-size-of-your-brush.html"},"modified":"2008-01-11T10:51:40","modified_gmt":"2008-01-11T10:51:40","slug":"its_not_the_size_of_your_brush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/11\/its_not_the_size_of_your_brush\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#039;s not the size of your brush&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cue &#8220;It&#8217;s In The Way That You Use It&#8221; (and good luck getting <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/detail.php?id=1357\">that<\/a><\/em> out of your head):&#160; Illustrator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobstaake.com\/\">Bob Stakke<\/a> uses Photoshop 3.0 (no, not CS3&#8211;the one from &#8217;94) to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2008\/01\/03\/video-of-bob-staakes.html\">create some great-looking characters<\/a>.&#160; In a tech-saturated, next-next-<em>next<\/em>-oriented world, it&#8217;s nice to be reminded that creativity comes from people, not from machines and other tools.<\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare could have rocked out in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WordStar\">WordStar<\/a>, and heck, you can draw <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kBLfufy4Pu4\">Scarlett Johansson using MS Paint<\/a> if you&#8217;d like.&#160; That&#8217;s not to say that new tools don&#8217;t enable tons of new things, of course, and hopefully let creativity flow more freely.&#160; It&#8217;s just a reminder that a car is nothing without its driver.&#160; [Via Doug Nelson] <\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Photoshop demos, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VXeZ0s8DXZ0&amp;watch_response\">You Suck At Photoshop&#8221; returns<\/a> with volume 2 of its depresso-funny PS stylings.&#160; No &#8220;shaggin&#8217; wagon&#8221; this time, but there <em>is<\/em> some territory-marking.
