{"id":12720,"date":"2008-04-08T00:06:40","date_gmt":"2008-04-08T00:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnackdev\/2008\/04\/lightwave-rendition-adds-new-3d-power-to-photoshop.html"},"modified":"2008-04-08T00:06:40","modified_gmt":"2008-04-08T00:06:40","slug":"lightwave_rendition_adds_new_3d_power_to_p","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/08\/lightwave_rendition_adds_new_3d_power_to_p\/","title":{"rendered":"LightWave Rendition adds new 3D power to Photoshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m pleased to see that NewTek, the folks behind the LightWave 3D modeling, animation, and rendering package, have <a href=\"http:\/\/siggraphnews.digitalmedianet.com\/articles\/viewarticle.jsp?id=351018\">announced<\/a> a new product, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtek.com\/rendition\/\">LightWave Rendition for Photoshop<\/a>.&#160; This plug-in technology builds on the 3D file format support in Photoshop CS3 Extended, adding on high-quality rendering and lighting manipulation.&#160; In this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtek.com\/rendition\/mustang.html\">screenshot<\/a> they show an image as displayed by Photoshop&#8217;s built-in renderer, then hit with the LightWave renderer &amp; touched up in Photoshop.&#160; Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtek.com\/rendition\/truck.html\">second example<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>According to their marketing docs, LightWave Rendition for Photoshop includes: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Slider Controls for Render and Anti-Alias Quality<\/u>: Allows for quick preview renders up to photo-quality images.\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Material Preset<\/u>: You have the option to apply preset or selected Photoshop materials to the surface of your 3D object for complete flexibility in design.\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Light Environment<\/u>: Use the default Photoshop Extended lighting environment or add the power of LightWave Rendition for Adobe Photoshop by using any 2D layer as a light map for complete control of the final light environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nBecause the product is in beta form, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.newtek.com\/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&amp;Category=19\">buy it<\/a> now for $99, discounted from the normal price of $149.
