It was <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/From-Alice-Ocean-Across-Outback\/dp\/0201632160\">From Alice To Ocean<\/a><\/em>, and it blew my mind. It wove Rick Smolan&#8217;s gorgeous photography together with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robyn_Davidson\">Robyn Davidson<\/a>&#8216;s story of trekking thousands of miles across the Outback with camels:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Alice.jpg\" alt=\"Alice\" width=\"560\" height=\"500\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-168\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Alice.jpg 560w, http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Alice-300x267.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The work established Rick as my interactive storytelling hero, and his later works (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.againstallodds.com\/passage.htm\">Passage to Vietnam<\/a><\/em> &#038; many others) have kept him there.
