{"id":19478,"date":"2022-05-26T17:34:16","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T00:34:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/?p=19478"},"modified":"2022-09-09T11:54:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T18:54:40","slug":"mobile-dalle-my-kind-of-location-based-ar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2022\/05\/26\/mobile-dalle-my-kind-of-location-based-ar\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobile DALL\u2022E = My kind of location-based AR"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I&#8217;ve long considered augmented reality apps to be &#8220;realtime Photoshop&#8221;\u2014or perhaps more precisely, &#8220;realtime After Effects.&#8221; I think that&#8217;s true &amp; wonderful, but most consumer AR tends to be ultra-confined filters that produce ~1 outcome well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking around San Francisco today, it struck me today that DALL\u2022E &amp; other emerging generative-art tools could\u2014if made available via a simple mobile UI\u2014offer a new kind of (almost) realtime Photoshop, with radically greater creative flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here I captured a nearby sculpture, dropped out the background in Photoshop, uploaded it to DALL\u2022E, and requested \u201ca low-polygon metallic tree surrounded by big dancing robots and small dancing robots.\u201d I like the results!<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&#8217;m suddenly craving a mobile <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/dalle?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#dalle<\/a> app that lets me photograph things, select them\/backgrounds, and then inpaint with prompts.
