{"id":2619,"date":"2015-07-07T10:17:05","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T17:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/?p=2619"},"modified":"2015-07-08T09:23:11","modified_gmt":"2015-07-08T16:23:11","slug":"the-best-computer-art-of-1968","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2015\/07\/07\/the-best-computer-art-of-1968\/","title":{"rendered":"The best computer art of 1968"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few years back when the Flash drawing app <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zefrank.com\/scribbler\/scribblertoo\/\">Scribbler<\/a> &amp; innumerable clones got briefly popular, I showed them to After Effects creator Dave Simons. \u201cOh,\u201d he said, \u201cI remember creating something like that in school 20 years ago.\u201d Sometimes it seems there\u2019s nothing new under the sun: Five years ago you could make a hot HTML5 blog by recreating hot Flash designs from 10 years earlier, which in turn were repurposing Java applets from five years before that, which\u2026 you get the picture.<\/p>\n<p>I think of all this when seeing the winners of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/bitsavers_computersA_8817283\/196808#page\/n7\/mode\/2up\">a computer art contest from 1968<\/a>.
