But I wrote last year of my <a href=\"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2014\/10\/02\/will-apple-enable-iphone-camera-connection-kit-interop\/\">sad disbelief<\/a>\u00a0at the \u201cbizarre failure of our industry\u201d to make this work well.<\/p>\n<p>But now, maybe\u2014<em>maybe<\/em>\u2014the iPad Pro\u2019s huge screen, crazy battery life, and MacBook Pro-class performance will change the equation. And here\u2019s a very quiet but potentially critical change: The device supports 10x faster (theoretically)\u00a0data import. Engadget <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2015\/11\/13\/ipad-pro-usb-3\/\">writes<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>[T]he iPad Pro is capable of transferring files at speeds that reach 5Gbps, whereas a USB 2.0 connection can only reach a max speed of 480Mbps. Apple had a good reason for not making a big deal out of it, though: you&#8217;ll need to get an extra USB 3.0 adapter to be able to take advantage of the capability, since the tablet only ships with a cable that can handle USB 2.0 speeds.
