Things have changed, however: According to PetaPixel,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/2015\/12\/08\/ios-9-2-lets-you-import-photos-your-iphone-directly-from-your-camera\/\">iOS 9.2 Lets You Import Photos to an iPhone Directly From a Camera<\/a>\u00a0or via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/shop\/product\/MJYT2AM\/A\/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader?fnode=91\">Lightning-to-SD-card reader<\/a>. On the new iPad Pro, that means transfer speeds that can theoretically be 10x faster (see <a href=\"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/14\/will-ipad-pro-finally-enable-pro-photo-workflows\/\">previous<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>My ideal world, as of late 2015:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>128GB phone with USB 3.0 speed<\/li>\n<li>On-the-fly import of raw files as DNG proxies (massively smaller, but 99% as flexible as raw originals)<\/li>\n<li>Preservation of raw originals on the card (as I don\u2019t need or want all the original bits clogging up my phone)<\/li>\n<li>Backup of originals later (via desktop upload) + syncing of edits performed to DNG proxies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For this I\u2019d more than happily stick a short, $29 cable into my pocket every time I took my SLR for a spin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year I waxed a little nostalgic\u00a0&amp; appreciative: We\u2019ve come a long way, baby: 2004: Epson P-2000: $500, 1360 grams., 3.8\u201d screen, and 40GB HD. 2014: Apple iPhone 6 Plus: $500*, 172 grams, 5.5\u201d screen, and 128GB HD.
