Last week we visited Point Reyes &amp; spent a bit of time exploring\u00a0the famous (and now sadly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/petapixel.com\/2016\/02\/23\/iconic-shipwrecks-fire-likely-caused-light-painting-photographer\/\">half-burnt<\/a>)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlasobscura.com\/places\/point-reyes-boat\">Point Reyes shipwreck<\/a>. Besides taking a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/wiEWfNkIM1gRT4AE2\">few shots<\/a>\u00a0with my DSLR, I was able to grab some fly-by footage, below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"604\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WqfUrrkIMZU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NewImage.png\" src=\"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/NewImage-21.png\" alt=\"NewImage\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few things I\u2019ve learned:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I wish I\u2019d taken a few minutes to <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Sdu0JbAaeb4\">learn about Point of Interest Mode<\/a>, which you can invoke easily via the controller (see another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=22CexFytT6w\">great little tutorial<\/a>\u00a0on that). It would\u2019ve made getting these orbiting shots far easier &amp; the results much smoother.<\/li>\n<li>They say that \u201cEvery unhappy family is unhappy in its own way,\u201d and nearly every 360\u00ba stitching attempt with\u00a0Lightroom or Camera Raw\u00a0craps out in some uniquely ghoulish manner.\u00a0(I\u2019m presently gathering materials to share with my Adobe friends.) Having said that, I have a certain affection for the weird result it produced below.\u00a0\u00af\\_(\u30c4)_\/\u00af<\/li>\n<li>The PT Gui trial seems to handle the images fine, but on principle I don\u2019t feel like paying $125-$250 for a feature in the apps I\u2019m already paying for.<\/li>\n<li>Consequently I\u2019m finding it much better to stitch panos directly on-device using the DJI Go app. (Even that doesn\u2019t always work, sometimes stalling out for no discernible reason.) I\u2019m also finding it impossible to load pano images back onto the SD card and stitch them in the app\u2014so the the opportunity while you can.<\/li>\n<li>The stitched results often (always?) fail to register as panos in Facebook &amp; Google Photos, so I use the free <a href=\"http:\/\/panoramaphotographer.com\/software\/exiffixer\/\">Exif Fixer<\/a>\u00a0utility to tweak their metadata.
