[<a href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.macromedia.com\/jd\/archives\/2006\/11\/invention_of_th.cfm\">Via<\/a>] <\/p>\n<p>In other Flash Player news, today the team dropped <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/press\/mozilla-2006-11-07.html\">a bit of a bombshell<\/a>: Adobe is open-sourcing  the code behind the fast new virtual machine inside the player, and it&#8217;s contributing the code to the Mozilla foundation.&#160; As Mike Potter <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/mikepotter\/2006\/11\/open_source_dev.html\">writes<\/a>, &quot;From a developer point of view, this means that you can build applications for Flash Player 9 that will use the same code structure as applications for Mozilla 2.
