Lisa gives up her pearls for Alber Elbaz. Homer dresses as Karl Lagerfeld. Selma &amp; Patty in Viktor &amp; Rolf.&#8221; [<a href=\"http:\/\/del.icio.us\/jonhicks\/sidenotes\">Via<\/a>] <\/li>\n<li> Illustrator Techniques demonstrates how to use the app to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illustratortechniques.com\/imitating-a-scanner-darkly.html\">imitate <em>A Scanner Darkly<\/em><\/a>.&#160; They also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illustratortechniques.com\/vector-art-goes-hollywood.html\">interview lead animator Sterling Allen<\/a>. [Via Thorsten Wulff] <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><u>Avian<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Famed for his <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?hl=en&amp;q=charley+harper&amp;btnG=Search+Images&amp;gbv=2\">Modernist bird illustrations<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charley_Harper\">Charley Harper<\/a> passed away on June 10th.&#160; Like many people, I suspect, I&#8217;d seen and enjoyed his work without knowing his name.&#160; Drawn <a href=\"http:\/\/drawn.ca\/2007\/06\/12\/charley-harper-1922-2007\/\">features a set of links<\/a> celebrating his life and work. <\/li>\n<li>Calgary-based Joy Ang has crafted some lovely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joyang.ca\/illustration\/blovebirds.jpg\">lovebirds<\/a>.&#160; I also dig her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joyang.ca\/illustration\/bumbrellas.jpg\">umbrellas<\/a>, and  her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joyang.ca\/illustration\/bzodiac.jpg\">Zodiac cubes<\/a> would go well with Amanda Visell&#8217;s blocky <a href=\"http:\/\/drawn.ca\/2007\/07\/17\/what-did-i-eat-ephunt\/\">Ephunt toy<\/a>. [<a href=\"http:\/\/drawn.ca\/2007\/07\/24\/joy-ang\/\">Via<\/a>] <\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve mentioned it previously, but Mario Cavalli&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bermudashorts.com\/results\/_1,315,\/\">Compaq bird animation<\/a> always makes me smile. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><u>Automotive<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the Audi A5, UK-based designers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wearegt.com\/\">GT<\/a> have created <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhythmoflines.co.uk\/\">A Rhythm of Lines<\/a>&#8211;a site that lets you create abstract car-related artwork (kinda; I find it a little obscure). [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/audi-a5.html\">Via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Car Design News is hosting a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.cardesignnews.com\/studio\/tutorials\/index.php\">tutorials on car rendering<\/a>, heavily using Photoshop. [<a href=\"http:\/\/idboost.wordpress.com\/2007\/07\/19\/car-design-news-tutorials\/\">Via<\/a>] <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><u>Assorted<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;I can&#8217;t tell if you&#8217;re hot from those MySpace photos&#8230;&#8221;&#160; Get postcards for the modern age from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/2007\/06\/someecards.html\">SomeECards<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Famous artists <a href=\"http:\/\/a-hole-in-the-head.blogspot.com\/2007\/07\/eyes-wide-shut-in-1947-life-magazine.html\">sketch their creations while blindfolded<\/a>.&#160; I enjoy the crazy faux-Cubist results. [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\">Via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Amy Dresser&#8217;s got a neat little <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amydresser.com\/illo.html\">illustration portfolio<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I find these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frederiksamuel.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/cvv-suicide-prevention.html\">suicide prevention posters<\/a> totally brilliant. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vecteezy.com\/\">Vecteezy<\/a> is a sharing site for free vector artwork. Fa sheezy. [<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/CreativeToolbox\/~3\/132871386\/\">Via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><u>Amazing<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.khulsey.com\/masters_yukio_miyamoto.html\">Yukio Miyamoto<\/a> is a master Illustrator artist, producing <em>insanely<\/em> detailed, photorealistic artwork.&#160; Fellow artist Kevin Hulsey (himself a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2006\/03\/720_hours_light.html\">total badass<\/a>) hosts a number of Yukio&#8217;s pieces. <\/li>\n<li>Elsewhere in Japan, farmers make <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinktentacle.com\/2007\/07\/pimp-my-rice-paddy\/\">huge rice paddy renderings<\/a> of famous artwork.&#160; Arigato!
