A disk has to move<br \/>\nthe read\/write head to the correct track and then wait for the right spot<br \/>\non the disk to spin around (not unlike Arlo waiting for the right spot in<br \/>\nthe chords to come around again so he could sing the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arlo.net\/resources\/lyrics\/alices.shtml\">chorus of Alice&#8217;s<br \/>\nRestaurant<\/a>). <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve spotted some related news that&#8217;s worth passing along: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com\/8301-10784_3-9825675-7.html?tag=nefd.lede\">Price drops are ahead for solid-state drives<\/a>, reports CNET. [Via Adam Jerugim] <\/li>\n<li>Think your latest Compact Flash card is spacious?&#160; BiTMICRO can now pack up to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitmicro.com\/products_edisk_altima_35_4gbfc.php\">1.6 <em>terabytes<\/em> of storage in a 3.5&#8243; disk<\/a>.
