{"id":16889,"date":"2011-03-26T09:27:27","date_gmt":"2011-03-26T16:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/?p=3921"},"modified":"2011-03-26T09:27:27","modified_gmt":"2011-03-26T16:27:27","slug":"dng-converter-powerpc-support-ending","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/26\/dng-converter-powerpc-support-ending\/","title":{"rendered":"DNG Converter PowerPC support ending"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over on the Lightroom Journal, PM Tom Hogarty reports that the recently posted <a href=\"http:\/\/labs.adobe.com\/technologies\/cameraraw6-4\/\">DNG Converter 6.4<\/a> will be <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/lightroomjournal\/2011\/03\/dng-converter-6-4-last-to-support-powerpc-mac-systems.html\">the last to support PowerPC Macs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As Tom explains, although Photoshop CS5 &amp; Lightroom 3, following Apple&#8217;s lead with Snow Leopard, no longer support PPC, the team has maintained support in the DNG Converter. \u00a0That way customers who couldn&#8217;t upgrade to CS5\/LR3 could convert their files to be backward compatible.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting aging systems comes at the expense of enhancing the apps for the future, and the overlap between people using the very latest, high-res SLRs together with 5+ year-old Macs has gotten small.
