This kind of thing kept getting love as it evolved (see <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2010\/11\/sneak-peeks-new-adobe-digital-imaging-tech.html\">2010 demo<\/a>), eventually <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/jnack\/2013\/05\/sneak-peek-playing-with-lighting-in-photoshop-and-after-effects.html\">matching lighting<\/a> among images. As far as I know no one has ended up using such functionality in practice (and yes, Match Color is still sitting in Photoshop on your hard drive right now), but it\u2019s still cool.<\/p>\n<p>Now the tech has taken another leap forward. Per <a href=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/2015\/08\/31\/this-new-algorithm-gives-photos-the-look-of-famous-paintings\/\">PetaPixel<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In a newly published research paper titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1508.06576\">A Neural Algorithm of Artistic Style<\/a>,\u201d scientists at the University of Tubingen in Germany describe how their deep neural network can create new artistic images when provided with a random photo and a painting to learn style from.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere we introduce an artificial system based on a Deep Neural Network that creates artistic images of high perceptual quality,\u201d the paper says. \u201cThe system uses neural representations to separate and recombine content and style of arbitrary images, providing a neural algorithm for the creation of artistic images.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/2015\/08\/31\/this-new-algorithm-gives-photos-the-look-of-famous-paintings\/\">many more examples<\/a> via the article.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-178767\" src=\"http:\/\/petapixel.com\/assets\/uploads\/2015\/08\/neuralartwork.jpg\" alt=\"neuralartwork\" width=\"640\" height=\"383\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 2003 we blew a lot of minds by showing Photoshop\u2019s Match Color feature sucking up the color palette of one photo or painting, then depositing it onto another.
