{"id":5535,"date":"2017-05-31T07:42:04","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T14:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/?p=5535"},"modified":"2017-05-30T21:41:37","modified_gmt":"2017-05-31T04:41:37","slug":"flo-rider-intelligent-automatic-video-creation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jnack.com\/blog\/2017\/05\/31\/flo-rider-intelligent-automatic-video-creation\/","title":{"rendered":"Flo rider: Intelligent, automatic video creation?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The dream of the 90\u2019s is alive in Portland<\/em>\u2026 and perhaps in <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/in\/app\/flo-intelligent-movie-maker-free-video-editor\/id1148937759?mt=8\">Flo<\/a>, a new video-creation app that promises to use AI &amp; voice commands to synthesize great movies from unwashed source material:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Just request a story by location, time period, tags or all of the above and Flo will respond to you like your very own video making assistant, creating the video story of your choice\u2014e.g. \u2018Make me a video story of my cat\u2019 or \u2018Make a video of my weekend trip to the beach\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"604\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_fU0-DUTR_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m off to try it out, but color me skeptical: My Emmy-winning colleague Bill Hensler, who used to head up video engineering at Adobe, said he\u2019d been pitched similar tech since the early 90\u2019s and always said, \u201cSure, just show me a system that can match a shot of a guy entering a room with another shot of the same thing from a different angle\u2014then we\u2019ll talk.\u201d As far as I know, we\u2019re still waiting.<\/p>\n<p>No word yet on what happens if you invite Flo to <a href=\"http:\/\/oldartguy.com\/Kiss_My_Grits_files\/l_05484660-fb4a-11e1-b06f-13c13bd00007.jpg\">kiss your grits<\/a>.
