The other day in my dorm we were playing Sega when on the screen a guy died and it just made me think. Sometimes Sega can do that you know, make you think about what you've been neglecting and forgetting all this time. I had played Sega past the time for Mass in my dorm, which is Zahm, in case you wondered.
You know, sometimes at Notre Dame, with all the football and classes and trying to get around DuLac and all the time spent with special friends, friends who will always be with us, even when we're gone from Notre Dame forever in such a short time we will barely have noticed it has gone by, we forget things that are really important.
No, I am not talking about beer, I am talking about someone who is a special person in all of our lives, who sometimes we forget about when we are at college. His name is G-O-D.
God is a very important person. He created us and the whole world besides. He does not discriminate even though Notre Dame still does (It shouldn't!) God is with us wherever we go. God is here at Notre Dame especially, because this is a Catholic school with tradition. One of the reasons I came to Notre Dame was all the Catholic tradition. Now we are sometimes forgetting about God, which is my point here, so let's get back to that.
It isn't always easy to remember how cool God is. He can be here for us in big and small ways, like when a friend has died, or when the team isn't doing well (Go Irish!) and also, when we least expect it, like when there is a Christian campus band at acoustic café.
We should not be skipping Mass and forgetting about God. There are many ways to remember that God is here. You can do things to show you remember God at Notre Dame. It's easy.
Go to the Grotto on a snowy night to pray. Go to the Basilica, where they are often having Mass. Join a religion you know nothing about. Go to your dorm Mass. Go to Mass in the crypt. See how may ways there are for you?
Or, you can even remember God by playing Sega.
