Troubleshooting a couple of CS5 glitches

If you’re a Mac user of the FinderPop utility, you might notice that Photoshop CS5 can crash when you choose Select > Inverse or other various menu items.  If that’s the case, try downloading the FinderPop 2.3.0.6 Beta as it contains a fix for the problem.

It’s also possible that you’re seeing some weirdness if running OS X 10.6.5 or 10.6.6 (e.g. seeing a “Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?,” tools behaving as if the Shift or Option keys are pressed). Something got broken in the 10.6.5 update, and the Photoshop team is working with Apple on a fix.

    1. Can you give more specifics on the clipboard glitch? We have a few brands in the fire. One workaround I know of involves an update from Nik. I know of another clipboard issue that’s particular to Word, and another that’s triggered by fetching clipboard data as part of an action.

  1. The Photoshop CS5/Windows clipboard glitch has been written about in the Windows Photoshop Forum on Adobe.com for a while now. In my case: Photoshop CS5 running on Win7/64 … whatever is on the clipboard when Photoshop opens is available in Photoshop, but you can’t place/paste anything new while Photoshop is open.

    1. Gerry– Have you tried the reg key workaround mentioned in those threads? Separately, do you have any 3rd party plug-ins (Nik has provided a config file that works around the problem triggered by their Selective Tool plug-in)? thx

  2. Emailed Nik about their fix (couldn’t find any reference to it on their website) and looked around the Windows forum for a Registry workaround, but the parameters were less than 100% detailed, and I don’t want to cripple my machine by making a Reg edit I will regret.

  3. Hi,
We believe we found a glitch.
We were trying to open multiple PDF’s or Illustrator files in Photoshop, however it will not allow you to do so, and locks up after the first one, we can however open one at a time into photoshop and keep them open.
If you know of a fix, please let us know.
    Thank you
    Doreen
