Photoshop Playbook: Making Fine Hair Selections

Great tips from Bryan O’Neil Hughes:

Betcha didn’t know—or had maybe forgotten about—the ability to drag-resize your brushes.

  1. I _did_ know about drag-resize – and drag–hardness! It’s a brilliant piece of UI – it saves a ton of time, clicks and aggravation.
Size is easy to remember; left is smaller, right is larger.
Hardness is not as intuitive, but I have a small mnemonic tip: Fluffy: up in the sky. Hard: Down to the ground.

  2. The fun part comes when going into the prefs/general and tick off the cryptic “Vary round brush hardness on HUD vertical movement” (guess Adobe hired an Alien to make that sentence) – then it’s the opacity that goes up or down instead of hardness.
