Scoble, the Phillustrator, & me

A couple of weeks ago, Robert Scoble (former Microsoft blogfatha) visited the Adobe San Jose office.  We spent just under an hour talking about Photoshop, and you can catch the broadcast here (also available fullscreen).  Our chat touches on engineer/pilot Thomas Knoll’s frugal Midwestern ways; HDR imaging; Eyes Wide Shut incantations; raw Smart Objects; the redemption of Brightness/Contrast; and more*.

Robert also spoke recently with lots of other Adobe folks, including Phil "the Phillustrator" Guindi**, talking about what’s new in AICS3.  Here’s a full rundown of recent sessions:

Adobe Premiere CS3 49 minutes.

Adobe Flash/Flex architecture overview 30 minutes.
Adobe Flex goes open source 25 minutes.
Adobe Flash CS3 overview 55 minutes.
Adobe Apollo overview 43 minutes.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 34 minutes.
Adobe Connect overview 29 minutes.
Adobe Acrobat 8.0 19 minutes.

*And it includes, of course, my weird lip-smacking mannerisms; yeesh.  Yeah, and you thought it was hard just to listen to oneself recorded…
**Naming credit goes to our friend Bryan Hughes. I persist in calling Phil’s new little son “Phillustrator Elements.”

  1. Good interview. Despite your warnings about your mannerisms, you come across as a normal guy who understands Photoshop (your writing here is always so gosh darn jolly that I pictured you as a talking-points kinda boss).
So good work. I feel more comfortable with you guys messing with our Photoshop.
    [Heh–cool, thanks. –J.]

  2. I agree with Jim, you do an excellent job talking about PS & explaining how to use the program so we can better understand its features, new & old.
[Thanks; that’s nice to hear. Invariably we’re always hardest on ourselves, but I did watch the whole thing to make sure I hadn’t burst into streams of incoherent profanity or anything. πŸ˜‰ –J.]

  3. Nice chat you had there. I looked through some of the interviews, and all of you are doing a good job communicating features and ideas. It pleases me to see this openness to us users and developers.
BTW: Congratulation with the CS3 release πŸ™‚
    [Thanks! –J.]

  4. I just finished watching the interviews, it’s been very informative. Pleasure to read such stuff and development in the entire field. Congrats. with the CS3 release πŸ™‚

  5. Cool interview and look forword testing the new release myself soon, although I’m actually quite pleased with CS2 aswell. I mainly use it for art work on a number of websites. Anyway, great stuff you guys are doing over there πŸ™‚
