Scripters needed for ESTK review, testing

Adobe is developing a new version of the ExtendScript Toolkit for use with CS4, and the development team is looking for input. Program manager Elba Sobrino writes:

I am collecting the names of any external developers who may be interested in installing and testing this new ESTK CS5 with their CS4 products, including InDesign, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Please contact me directly if you’d like to participate and provide your feedback.

  1. John,
Is the ExtendedScript Toolkit something Adobe plans on licensing to third parties? I worked on a product called Visio for years and we had complete support for VBA, which was a fantastic scripting environment. I’d love to see someone step up to the plate and provide a cross platform scripting solution with great integration and IDE support.
Is Adobe going to be that company, or would they consider being that company? Enquiring minds want to know. 🙂

  2. Will ESTK CS5 have some form of autosave or file recovery?
ESTK CS4 is very crash-prone on my G5 Mac. It will crash even when it sits in the background while I am doing something else.
I’m a novice at scripting/programming… PS scripting is about all I do except a bit of playing around with “Processing”. I don’t really know how to use many features in the ESTK, perhaps I should learn some more about it.
