Nik, Nack, ideally no paddywhack. 🙂
I’m pleased to say that version 1.111 of the indispensable Nik Collection of plug-ins for Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture is now available:
This update brings more bug fixes and performance improvements and will be installed in the background so long as your host applications (Lightroom, Photoshop, or Aperture) aren’t currently running.
To check which version of the Nik Collection you currently have installed, open up a photo in any of the Collection plug-ins and click on the Nik logo on the top right of the display. That will pop up the product’s About screen with the version listed there.
You can learn more about this update by visiting our Release Notes page.
Reminds me need to add Nik to my CC machine
Do I need this John? If you say so, I’ll try it.
i just wish google would allow people to choose which of the plugins are installed, as i only use silverefx, yet all 5 plugins get installed, then i must manually go in and remove all the ones i dont want to see in photoshop. i find it odd there’s no choice allowed when installing a collective.
is there a nik forum, not a google+ page but an actual forum to post such a wish?
Gary (also John),
For me now – who hasn’t updated in a while … – there are now eight filters in the Nik kit. This includes a new one (Analog Efex Pro v. 1.0.11.180).
Have to say overall that the primary five all seem pretty conservative – good with tints, conversions, re-colorations, etc. (and all with good localization mechanics) – but nothing more adventurous than that … maybe the “give-a-dog-a-bone” axis could become more challenging?
Wouldn’t it be great if the update didn’t reset my Lightroom edit presets’s colour space to sRGB? Hint.
postscript:
In playing catch-up with the filters in Photoshop I uncovered a bonus thing which produces this on-screen message: ” … Efex Pro has detected that the active layer is a Smart Object and will now operate as a Smart Filter … and the effect will be applied to the current layer”. In fact, it seems (also) that any of the filters can be incorporated in an Action-based workflow with this option included. Neat. Nik. Nack.
Clicking on the Nik logo for me shows the version of the individual plug-in (Silver Efex, etc) not the collection as a whole.
Not very obvious how to update (no About -> check for updates) and no obvious upgrade links on their site. Feel free to pass this on to Nik team.
Hmm – seems I’m missing Analogue Efex Pro too.
Can’t find my original download link, but certainly found the payment in my credit card statements (April 2013)
Contacted Nik.
