Nik Collection updated with Photoshop CC 2014 compatibility

Navah Wei writes,

The newest version (1.207) of the Nik Collection has now been released, bringing you more bug fixes and adding installer compatibility for Photoshop CC 2014.  This update will be installed in the background, provided your host applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture) are not running and that you are connected to the Internet.

You can check out the full release notes here.

  1. How can I tell which version of the collection I have? The individual items each have their own version number 2.XXX or 3.XXX or 4.XXX.

    Thanks, Victor

[Per Navah: “To check on your version of the Nik Collection, open a photo in either Viveza 2 or Sharpener Pro 3. Click on the Nik logo in the top right corner of the interface. This will pop up an About screen. Look for a version number ending in (2606-1), which indicates you are running the latest version.” —J.]

    1. My version: 3.1.16.288×64 (2005-288) This does not look like current version how do I force an update to take place?

  2. every release i cross my fingers to see an installer with options to choose which of the plugins to install instead of all of them and then manually removing the unwanted ones, since its only silverefx im into…
or the ability to move its panels around (split some between right and left sides sothey all fit onscreen at once) as in lightroom

  3. Thought I might answer myself incase someone else had same questions about updating .
I found that my PS CC2014 for some reason was only seeing an older version of NIK Google collection and that my LR-5 was seeing the newest version. The only way I found to force an update to PS was to download the trial version of the newest collection and do a install… It looks like this install updates all applications that use the collection whether they need updates or not but this is ok because everything worked as it should after the update. There was no need to re-enter license information etc…..
    Hope this info helps someone…

  4. To simply download the latest version 1.207 of Nik software I found the simplest solution was given by google themselves who say: if you do not have the update yet, you can manually download and install the trial version from our website at http://www.google.com/nik collection. It will install as a full version, as long as you already have the full version on your computer.

Tried it a few minutes ago and it worked like a dream with no fuss.
