A sophisticated animated graphic was clearly not the intention. Here in New Zealand an ironic self-deprecating wit is the underlying humour.
So, think Flight of the Conchords, not The Three Stooges.
If you don’t get the NZ take on humour then you probably have an irony deficiency.
