Infographic video: 200 countries over 200 years

In “The Joy of Stats,” Hans Rosling “tells the story of the world in 200 countries over 200 years using 120,000 numbers… plotting life expectancy against income for every country since 1810.” Cool.

  1. Fantastic.
My job at the present is helping faculty and students to make these kinds of things; thanks for the example John!

  2. Great presentation, but it’s all a Ponzi Scheme. We are already overpopulated beyond hope of long-term sustainability, and our populations are exploding. Without population control and decrease soon we are lost.

  3. In response to Dr. James Lazell, the world as it is today might indeed be a ponzi scheme. But the data tell us that the only way to stop population growth, maybe even reach negative global population growth, is improved economy and health for the poorest. Or, to be exact, reduced child mortality. Reduced child mortality directly affects reduction in population growth. There’s plenty of data supporting this, and again Hans Rosling explains it best and most entertainingly:

The hard facts are towards the end. Recommended.
