  1. Waaay off topic, but I gotta ask your insider perspective.
It’s been announced on the tech blogs that people are installing Flash on the iPhone (it’s actually called ‘Frash’ and it’s reportedly not as good as the real thing). That announcement paired with the recent court decision that jailbreaking iPhones and iPads is legal, in theory would make it totally legal for Adobe to release Flash for jailbroken iPhones. Would Adobe pursue such a move? I realize that politically, Adobe would be irking Apple, but it would provide an official way to put Flash on the iPhone. It would give a lot of people a reason to jailbreak their iPhones, proving to Apple that there are many, many people who like their iPhones but want Flash. I haven’t ever jailbroken my iPhone, but I would do it to have an officially supported version of Flash (even if not supported by Apple).
What do you think? I realize it’s unlikely, but I love the efforts people have made to put Flash on the iPhone.

  2. I downloaded the Illustrator 15.0.1 update and ran it. The application manager told me it couldn’t install it. Message below:
    Adobe Illustrator CS5 15.0.1 Update
    Installation failed
I then ran the support advisor, It returned the following message:
The module found no issues to report for the selected log file.
If you continue to have difficulties with the application,
    please contact Adobe Support: http://www.adobe.com/support
I have deleted Illustrator’s prefs and repeated this process.
    Same result.
I have had CS5 for less than a week. I had to reinstall PShop because bits where missing from the original installation, and now this.

  3. I have jumped on this as we have been unable to use Illustator due to the memory bug.
I am very happy to report that it has been fixed, and we can finally start using CS5.
I have also found that Illustrator is using less RAM than before the update, I would open 6 small files and it would hit the max of 2.5GB and then crap itself, now I can open 6 massive files and its sat at 1.6GB of RAM.

  4. I had an identical experience as Paul George: couldn’t install update. Installed and ran support advisor (after installing AIR). No issues found. Contacted support. Lost the trail somewhere in the “I can’t download the product” section. Blah. I’d love to get the update though. Any workarounds?

  5. Wonder of wonders: the Ill update is not named ‘patcher’, a non descriptive idiocy by a thought free software person.
It is named “setup”, perhaps a new non descriptive idiocy? Innovation is great.
Fortunately the InDesign update is not named the same. That is helpful.

  6. hmmm, I spoke to soon. When one actually delves down MANY levels, an old innovation, the actual installer it is named ‘non entity patcher’
    Sigh…
But being a computer jock, or ?, I have figured out how to rename it. 🙂

  7. Well, its seems like there is a great problem with CS5, i am using CS4 and that is not creating any problem for me till now. I was thinking to get CS5 but i don’t think that i will do that now. Please help.
[You’re not getting CS5 because the updater doesn’t always work (something that can be fixed per the technote)? FWIW the updater certainly works in the vast majority of cases, but none of those people are motivated to speak up. –J.]

  8. We do a lot of work transferring MS Word docs to inDesign. We have CS5 and when doing the work now find that occassionally we lose short cut keys or when you type gobbledegook just appears!
    Anyone else with this problem?

  9. I am trying to unintall CS4 and install CS5. I keep getting the message that I can not install until I close Bridge. Bride is close. I’ve shut down and restarted my computer several times. Any advice. I called adobe and the wait time was 45 minutes…
