iPhone GUI bits

  • The guys at teehan+lax have created a slick, well organized iPhone GUI PSD file.  Geoff Teehan writes, "We created our own Photoshop file that has a fairly comprehensive library of assets – all fully editable."  Nicely done! [Via Joel Eby]

  1. Hi John,
Regarding the iPhone GUI PSD file, it’s always interesting to see how different people organise PSD layers.
Also, does this PSD effectively replace Device Central CS3?!
[Nope, they’re complementary. As far as I know there’s no iPhone definition in Device Central, as the latter is geared towards devices that embed Flash Lite. Also note that Device Central does much more than offer templates. It can do some really interesting things around simulating bandwidth, processor speeds, and even ambient lighting and reflections. –J.]

  2. Remembering his PowerPoint rant, I was expecting Tufte to sound a bit like Grandpa Simpson, but he points out potential in the iPhone’s high-resolution interface that Apple has yet to exploit.
A stock market app like the one he describes would probably sell like hot cakes. The weather APP I’d buy in a New York minute.
[I still haven’t gotten to watch the video as the server seemed overloaded when I tried. I saw Tufte speak at the NY public library years ago and found that he–well, he didn’t lack self-confidence. 🙂 –J.]
