Video: HDR relighting technology

Here’s some very cool imaging tech, though it’ll be interesting to see how many people will take the time to create multiple exposures, each with different controlled lighting:

If this is up your alley, check out a paper and video on the subject that some Adobe researchers put together a couple of years back.

  1. I tried this, but sadly it crashes often and runs out of memory. I hope they fix the issues and get the 64 bit version up, because the technology seems promising. I got great results when the app didn’t crash.

  2. I tried this too. The video looks really cool. It is really fast with jpg files, but it ran out of memory with raw files. I found that the image alignment wasn’t as good as PS (could have been my pictures). The speed is the best feature. I haven’t had a chance to try the multiple lighting setup which looked awesome. Lux Render has this feature, but this is the first time I’ve seen it with done with photographs. Definitely worth downloading to try the free Beta.

  3. I mostly tried the ReLight module. As luck would have it I had quite a few scenes I took this way for manual blending (mostly artificial strobe lighting). It seems to work very well!
I had a lot of fun with it.
Oh and it worked flawlessly on my 12mp DNGs
